Javonna Shaunte Bradley, a 29 year old Houston resident faces multiple charges for sexual assault after she was accused of having sex with two teenage boys. According to police records, Bradley has been charged with sexual assault of a child under age 17 and has a bail of $30,000.

So what happened? According to police records, on June 1st of this year, the two teenage victims were invited to Bradley’s apartment by a male mutual friend. The man asked the boys if they wanted to spend time with a woman and preceded to bring them to Bradley’s apartment.

When the boys arrived at the apartment, Bradley’s friend invited one boy into the bedroom where he and Bradley had sex in front of the boy. They both then asked the boy to join in with the act. After the incident was over, Bradley then asked the second boy to come and participate in the couple’s sexual act as well.

Later in the investigation, both the 15-year old and 16 year-old boys stated that they had other sexual encounters with Bradley when no one else was present throughout the summer.

Teachers Abuse Their Trust Again

A mother is infuriated this morning as two former teachers who had sexual relations with her 17-year-old son were sentenced to only probation with time in jail stayed.

The couple, Gay Davidson-Shepard, 60, and her husband, Daniel Shepard, 63, pleaded guilty August 30th to multiple felony and misdemeanor counts. Their punishment, as noted earlier, was nothing more than a few years of probation, three and four years in jail stayed, and sixty days of counseling. As you can imagine, the victim’s mother is outraged at the sentencing stating, “Apparently, it boils down to the judge felt my son’s life was worth the Shepards picking up trash for a couple weeks”.

The reason for the light sentence is unknown, but the prosecution argued that not only was this sentence unlawfully light, but that it should of ventured on the side harsh due to the fact that these two were trusted teachers who used their position and marital status to lure this boy back to their house. They continually brought this 17-year-old back to participate in what started out as casual dinner and progressed into alcohol consumption and sexual acts.

Parents should not have to worry about their child when they send them off to school, and they most certainly should not have to worry about the people they trust with their child’s education and growth, but it is acts such as this that continually put fear into worried parents. The severity of these crimes is not taken likely, nor should any false accusations. Scottsdale Teen Arrested for Rape

Scottsdale 16-year old Danny Jackson has been arrested and is being held without bond for the sexual assaults of two women in the span of three weeks.

Classmates of the Chaparral High School student say that Jackson, who was at one point a promising running back, is violent and has been suspended a number of times for fighting. After showing authorities a cell phone video of Jackson fighting, one Chaparral student identified only as Gauge said that the news of the sexual assaults did not come as a shock to him.

Scottsdale police say that Jackson was identified by tips from the community and forensic evidence as the man who broke in to two victims’ homes in two separate apartment complexes through unlocked patio doors, and sexually assaulted them. A 49-year-old woman says that the suspect entered her home naked.

Court attorney spokesperson Jerry Cobb said that Jackson will be charged as an adult with multiple counts including sexual assault, burglary and kidnapping.

One more accomplice added to the Sandusky Case

The Jerry Sandusky child molestation case doesn’t end with Sandusky’s prison sentence.

On Thursday, November 1st, former Penn State President Graham B. Spanier was charged with perjury, obstruction of justice, and endangering the welfare of children because of his actions concerning covering up the allegations of Sandusky’s molestation. He is one of three this day that prosecutors believe to be an accomplice to the horrendous acts of Sandusky, with former athletic director Timothy M. Curley and former Vice President Gary C. Schultz being the other two.

Spanier, 64, had been president for 16 years before he was forced to step down after Sandusky’s arrest in November, 2011. He claims that he has no recollection of any suspected emails concerning a 1998 complaint in which a woman declares her son to be a victim of a child molestation act that involved Sandusky showering with her son. As for a 2001 complaint from a team assistant who says he walked in on Sandusky sexually abusing a boy inside a team shower, Spanier affirms that he has only a “slight recollection”.

Decisions by these three men have been highly scrutinized by FBI reports stating that these men not only turned a blind eye to these contentions, but “empowered” the abuse by giving him access to school facilities and concealed his acts from university trustees. Although Spanier pleads that the emails he received never suggested anything more than “horseplay”, the FBI believes that these three men understood in totality what was happening and reacted by only asking Sandusky to receive help and forbidding him to bring anymore children within Penn State facilities.

As for Sandusky, who begs his innocence, he was sentenced to 30-60 years inside a maximum security prison with counts of sexual abuse to 10 boys over the age of 15.

Sexual accusations, especially those concerning children, are some of the most heinous crimes a person can commit. As shown above, they are harshly punished and because of laws like the Megan Act, they will forever rightfully tarnish a person’s reputation. If you or someone you know has been wrongfully accused of sexual crimes, act now before it is too late and retain a trusted lawyer who can defend you and your name from forever being written off as a sexual predator.

Texas Sex Crimes

Sex crimes are among the most tragic and unnerving types of crime that occur in the United States.

According to the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment, a quarter of a million children are sexually assaulted every year in Texas. The most common age bracket of victims of sexual assault is 10 to 14 years old.

A 2010 study found that 34.6% of victims’ offenders were a member of their family (usually extended family); 48.1% were among other people with whom they were familiar; 17.3% a stranger or other unknown individual. Although it is commonly assumed that substance use or abuse plays a role in most sexual assault cases, incidence of alcohol was only present in 13% of cases, and drug presence in only 4%.

The following are the three classes of misdemeanors and three degrees of felonies associated with sex crimes in Texas, as well as the punishments associated with each one:

Misdemeanors:
•    Class A: Fine up to $4,000 or up to 1 year in jail or both. An example of a Class A misdemeanor is “promotion of prostitution” (paying for sex).
•    Class B: Fine up to $2,000 or up to 180 days in jail or both. An example of a Class B misdemeanor is “indecent exposure.”
•    Class C: Fine up to $500. Homosexual conduct was considered a Class C misdemeanor until determined unconstitutional in 2003. The only offense that is currently classified as a Class C misdemeanor is “obscene display or distribution.”

Felonies:
•    First-degree felony: No more than 99 years or less than 5 years in institutional division. An example of a first-degree felony is “aggravated sexual assault.”
•    Second-degree felony: No more than 20 years or less than 2 years in institutional division. An example of a second-degree felony is “sexual assault.”
•    Third-degree felony: No more than 10 years or less than 2 years in institutional division. An example of a third-degree felony is “prohibited sexual conduct” (usually incest).

Texas strictly adheres to all federal standards in punishment and deterrence of sexual misconduct. Texas’s Council on Sex Offender Treatment, founded in 1983, has been recognized by the State of Texas as the experts in the treatment and management of sex offenders. CSOT has the four primary functions of maintaining public safety, treating to assure public and behavioral health, regulation of rules and providing proper education and information to the public.

The State of Texas and the CSOT work hard to ensure that Texas is one of the states that classify sex offenders and set their registration requirements based on risk assessment. Rather than basing a decision solely on the offense, sex offenders and the specificities of their crimes are thoroughly evaluated.

Since being convicted of a sex crime in Texas usually results in very heavy penalties, those that are accused of a sex crime are encouraged to contact a sex crime defense lawyer to help them sort out their options and decide on the best way to defend themselves from the associated punishments.
